Video: A Guide To Laser Cutting With Baseline Custom Fabricating Ltd.

August 08, 2018

Many shops still use traditional cutting methods like lathing and sawing. With advanced technology, however, laser cutting now stands at the forefront of metal fabrication. Laser cutting offers increased speed, accuracy, and is much safer to operate with CNC machining. It can cut complex shapes, regardless of the size. Laser cutting can offer high-quality finishes for even the most demanding of projects.

The vaporization technique is fairly straightforward – extreme heat is focused through a laser beam that essentially boils its way through the material. This process is less effective for creating shaped cuts, and is commonly used on woods and similar materials.

Thermal stress is used on brittle materials, such as glass. With CNC computer software, this is an incredibly precise process.

Reactive (Flame) is a highly versatile and energy-efficient method. It can perform thick cuts on highly durable materials.
