Taking A Closer Look At The Processes Involved in Custom Metal Fabricating

June 29, 2018

Metal fabrication is perhaps one of the most valued procedures among manufacturers. Custom metal fabricating involves various processes in order to produce products tailored to a client’s specifications. Each process adds value to the work-piece and taking a closer look at them will provide a clearer picture at how custom metal fabricating is done.

Here are the three main processes involved in custom metal fabricating:

Bending

This step is used to alter the shape of metal pieces either through manual or automated means. This is done through the hammering of the work-piece. However, there are specialized bending machines that have been developed to make the process both easier and faster. The modern technology of press brakes in particular are used to bend metal sheets according to the client’s specifications.

Cutting

This process encompasses a variety of custom metal fabricating methods. From torches, and plasma cutting, to waterjet cutting and laser cutting, there are a range of methods used during this process. This process requires a highly skilled workforce, a seasoned supervisor, or even the help of CNC automated machines to achieve and possibly exceed the customer’s requirements.

Assembling

This final process is where all the finished metal work-pieces are fixed together with the use of adhesives, fasteners, and welding. The assembly process used to be incredibly labour-intensive. However, with the use of CNC technology and other technological advancements, it has become easier and more efficient over the years.

While these three processes are the major steps involved during custom metal fabricating, there are a a number of additional fabricating processes including shearing, seaming, and stamping – to name a few. The entire process of custom metal fabricating needs a dedicated team of professionals such as welders, ironworkers and blacksmiths to do the job right.

Luckily, we at Baseline Custom Fabrication have the dedicated team and advanced equipment to do the best job possible. With our dedication and commitment to quality, we offer a highly versatile custom metal fabricating service that is sure to meet your needs.
