Custom Steel Fabrication: The Steps to Realizing Your Plan

January 02, 2018

Custom steel fabrication is an incredibly useful process, and it is one that we are very proud to offer at Baseline. Steel projects tend to be highly flexible, relatively lightweight, and always look great. As such, we take especial care to ensure that the process brings you exactly what it is you need for your business, in exactly the right way for you.

Custom steel fabrication is not easy – but we perform in through a few basic steps.

  • Drafting - The first step in any steel fabrication process always involves drafting. This means having the design, along with potential concerns, considerations, and other contextual information, committed to writing. Ideally, this would be uploaded onto CAD software, for maximum precision and efficiency later in the process.
  • Equipment Inventory - This involves the listing of all required items for the completion of the project. The listing includes the list of materials, equipment, personnel, and anything else that will be required to finish the job.
  • Execution - In this step of the process, the design concept is carried out into reality. This includes cutting steel plates and forming them according to each section of the design. This can involve laser cutting, various welding processes, and then construction of the finished product.
  • Installation - Once all the sections of your custom steel fabrication project have been completed, we can work with you to aid in the installation process – after all, a beautifully-formed staircase, for example, is hardly useful lying around in our warehouse.

While these steps are fairly generic, the true intricacies of the fabrication process lie in the unique elements of your specific design. This is custom steel fabrication, after all, which means that our expert teams have to be ready for anything that you bring to them – and they definitely are!
